Three days, two cities, one domestic flight. Cairo gets you the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Luxor gets you Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and Hatshepsut’s Temple. Trying to do Luxor by train means 10 hours each way — that kills two full days. Flying takes 1 hour.
This tour is for people who want the highlights of Upper Egypt but don’t have a week. You land in Cairo, see the Pyramids, fly to Luxor the next morning, see the temples, fly back. Tight schedule but doable.
What you actually see
Day 1 — Cairo. Giza Plateau first. We get there when gates open at 8 AM. Three pyramids, the Sphinx, the Valley Temple. Your guide handles tickets. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — 2.5 hours in the Tutankhamun galleries and the grand staircase. Overnight at Steigenberger Pyramids.
Day 2 — Luxor, East Bank. 5 AM transfer to Cairo airport. EgyptAir flight MS 060 or similar departs 6:30 AM. You’re in Luxor by 7:30 AM. Check in, quick breakfast, then Karnak Temple — the Hypostyle Hall with 134 columns is the highlight, allow 2 hours. Lunch on the Nile corniche. Afternoon: Luxor Temple. Best seen in late afternoon light or after dark when it’s illuminated. Overnight at Steigenberger Nile Palace.
Day 3 — Luxor, West Bank. 7 AM pickup. Valley of the Kings — your ticket covers 3 tombs, we pick the best open ones (Ramses III, Ramses IX, Merenptah are usually good). Tutankhamun and Seti I cost extra ($20-25) and are worth it for Seti. Then Hatshepsut’s Temple (45 minutes) and the Colossi of Memnon (15-minute photo stop). Lunch. Afternoon flight back to Cairo. Arrive 5-6 PM. Drop-off at airport or hotel.
About the flight
The Cairo-Luxor flight is 1 hour. EgyptAir runs it multiple times daily. Luggage allowance: 23 kg checked, 7 kg carry-on per person. We book your tickets and send you the e-tickets 2 weeks before arrival.
Morning flights fill up fast, especially October to April. Book at least 6 weeks ahead. If the 6:30 AM flight is full, we book the 7:15 AM and adjust the schedule — it just means less time at Karnak.
Important note on pricing: The $900 price includes round-trip economy tickets on EgyptAir, but flight prices change. If you book more than 3 months out, the flight portion is usually around $150-200 per person. If you book last-minute (under 3 weeks), the flight can cost $300-400 per person, and we’ll quote you the difference before confirming. We don’t markup the flight — you pay what EgyptAir charges. Once your booking is confirmed, the price is locked.

Honest notes
Three days is short for Cairo + Luxor. You’ll be moving fast. If you want slower days and more time at each site, book the 5-day version.
The Valley of the Kings is hot. Even in winter, temperatures hit 30°C inside the tombs. Bring water, wear a hat, and go early. The site opens at 6 AM in summer.
Luxor’s West Bank tombs are photographed heavily on the internet. In person, they’re darker and more cramped than photos suggest. The colors on the ceilings are real and worth looking up for.
The overnight in Luxor means packing light for one night. Leave your big suitcase in Cairo at the Steigenberger Pyramids and travel with a small bag. We can arrange luggage storage — just ask.
