Six days, three cities, two flights, and one beach resort. This is the tour for travelers who want the historical highlights AND a few days on the Red Sea. Cairo gets you the Pyramids. Luxor gets you Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Hurghada gets you nothing to do but swim, eat, and sleep — which is exactly the point.

The Hurghada portion is at the Marriott Beach Resort, full board: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and soft drinks included. If you don’t drink alcohol, you spend almost nothing for two days.

What you actually see

Day 1 — Cairo. Giza Plateau at 8 AM when gates open. Three pyramids, the Sphinx, the Valley Temple. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — 2.5 hours. Overnight at Steigenberger Pyramids.

Day 2 — Luxor, East Bank. Early flight to Luxor (6:30 AM, 1 hour). Karnak Temple in the morning, Luxor Temple in the afternoon. Overnight at Steigenberger Nile Palace.

Day 3 — Luxor West Bank, then Hurghada. Valley of the Kings at 7:45 AM, Hatshepsut’s Temple, Colossi of Memnon. Lunch. Then the 4-hour drive to Hurghada. Arrive around 6 PM. Dinner at the Marriott.

Day 4 — Hurghada. Free day. Sleep in. Pool, beach, Red Sea. The Marriott has a private beach and 3 restaurants. Optional: boat trip with snorkeling ($40-60 per person).

Day 5 — Fly back to Cairo. Morning flight Hurghada → Cairo (1 hour). Afternoon in Cairo: Citadel of Saladin, Old Cairo (Coptic Cairo). Evening at Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Overnight at Steigenberger Pyramids.

Day 6 — Departure. Breakfast. Transfer to Cairo International Airport.

About the flights

Two flights are included: Cairo → Luxor on Day 2, and Hurghada → Cairo on Day 5. Both on EgyptAir, economy class. Luggage: 23 kg checked, 7 kg carry-on per person.

Important note on pricing: The $1,100 price includes both flights, but flight prices change. Booked 3+ months out, the flights total about $180-250 per person. Last-minute (under 3 weeks), they can reach $400-500 per person, and we’ll quote you the difference before confirming. We don’t markup the flights — you pay what EgyptAir charges. Once your booking is confirmed, the price is locked.

Honest notes

Day 3 is long. You see the West Bank tombs in the morning, then drive 4 hours to Hurghada. You arrive around 6 PM, tired. That’s the trade-off — you get 2 full nights in Hurghada, but the travel day is heavy.

Hurghada is a resort town. Everything is built for tourists — the shops, the restaurants, the dive centers. If you want authentic Egyptian life, this isn’t it. If you want a beach with good weather and a clean hotel, it’s perfect.

The Red Sea has some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world. The reefs around Giftun Island are 30 minutes by boat. Visibility is 20-30 meters. If you dive, plan a full day for it (Day 4) — a two-tank dive trip costs $70-100 and includes equipment.

Day 5 is packed. Flight, then Citadel, then Old Cairo, then Khan el-Khalili. If you want to slow down, tell us and we can move Khan el-Khalili to Day 6 morning before your flight.

The Valley of the Kings tombs are hot inside — 30°C even in winter. Bring water and go early.

Who this is for

  • Travelers who want history AND beach in one trip
  • Couples and honeymooners who want a mix of culture and relaxation
  • Anyone who dives or snorkels — Hurghada’s reefs are world-class
  • People who want full-board resort time without paying extra for food

Who this is not for

  • Travelers who want maximum history — the 8-day version covers Aswan and Abu Simbel
  • Anyone who hates beach resorts (book the 5-day Cairo & Luxor version)
  • Families with very young kids (the Luxor → Hurghada drive is long)
  • Divers who want dedicated dive resorts (book a separate Red Sea trip)
Day 1 Cairo — Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum

8:00 AM — Meet and assist at Cairo International Airport. Our rep holds a sign with your name, handles visa paperwork, and drives you to Steigenberger Pyramids. Transfer takes 25 minutes if you land before 4 PM, 45 minutes after.

Giza Plateau. Your guide handles tickets. Three pyramids (Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure), the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple. Bring a hat and water — no shade on the plateau.

12:30 PM — Lunch at a local restaurant near the plateau. Koshari, grilled chicken, or a mixed grill.

2:00 PM — Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Allow 2.5 hours. Tutankhamun galleries are the main draw. The grand staircase has a view over the Pyramids through the glass wall. Air-conditioned.

5:00 PM — Back at the hotel. Evening free. Tomorrow is an early flight — pack a small bag for Luxor and Hurghada, leave the big suitcase at the hotel (free storage).

12:30 PM — Lunch on the Nile corniche. Fresh fish, grilled chicken, or a mixed mezze plate.

2:00 PM — Luxor Temple. Smaller than Karnak, more intact, in the middle of the city. The Avenue of Sphinxes connects it to Karnak. Best photos in late afternoon light or after dark when illuminated.

Meals: Breakfast
Is this a private tour or a group tour? +

Private. Your own vehicle, driver, and Egyptologist guide. No strangers, no fixed group schedule.

Are the flights included in the $1,100 price? +

Yes. Two economy flights on EgyptAir: Cairo→Luxor (Day 2) and Hurghada→Cairo (Day 5). But flight prices change. Booked 3+ months out, both flights total about $180-250 per person. Last-minute (under 3 weeks), they can reach $400-500 per person. We'll quote the exact price before confirming.

What does 'full board' mean at the Hurghada Marriott? +

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included, plus soft drinks (water, soda, juice, tea, coffee). Alcohol is extra. There are 3 restaurants at the resort — the main buffet and two à la carte. You can eat at any of them.

Is the drive from Luxor to Hurghada long? +

Yes. About 4 hours (290 km) on the Safaga road. It's a desert road, two lanes, mostly straight. We stop once at a rest stop. If you get carsick, take something before you leave Luxor.

Can I skip the Luxor → Hurghada drive and fly instead? +

There's no direct Luxor→Hurghada flight. You'd have to fly Luxor→Cairo→Hurghada, which adds 5-6 hours of travel and costs an extra $150-200. The drive is faster and cheaper. We drive.

What optional activities are in Hurghada? +

Snorkeling to Giftun Island ($40-60), two-tank dive ($70-100 for certified divers), Discover Scuba intro dive ($80), glass-bottom boat ($30), quad bike desert safari ($35-50). Book through us the night before, or directly at the hotel dive center.

Is the Red Sea good for snorkeling? +

Yes. Visibility is 20-30 meters, and the reefs around Giftun Island are shallow — 3 to 8 meters — so snorkelers see as much as divers. Bring an underwater camera.

Is Hurghada worth it if I don't swim? +

If you don't swim or snorkel, Hurghada is just a beach resort with good food. If you want pure history, book the 5-day Cairo & Luxor tour instead. If you want one free day to sleep and eat, Hurghada works.

What's the best time of year for this tour? +

October to April for Cairo and Luxor — cooler. Hurghada is warm year-round, but July and August are 40°C+. Best overall: October, November, March, April. Red Sea water is warmest September to November (27°C).

Can I add Alexandria to this tour? +

Not without adding a day. Alexandria is 2.5 hours each way from Cairo. If you want Alexandria, book the 7-day version.

Can I bring a large suitcase? +

Yes, but leave it in Cairo. Free luggage storage at Steigenberger Pyramids. Travel to Luxor and Hurghada with a small bag. The domestic flights allow 23 kg checked, but managing a big suitcase on a 6-day multi-city trip is annoying.

How much should I tip? +

Budget $10-15 per person per day for the guide and driver. Tips are not included in the price. In Egypt, tipping is expected, not optional.
