My Egypt Travel presents an immersive 2-day historical journey to Cairo from El Gouna, ensuring you witness the monumental sights and diverse cultural heritage of the Egyptian capital. Your own private Egyptologist guide will accompany you.
Day 1: Gouna Travel, Giza Pyramids & The GEM
Pick up from your hotel in El Gouna by private air-conditioned vehicle/bus for the long-distance transfer to Cairo.
Upon arrival, your tour begins at the Great Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza. You will see the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the only surviving “Wonder of the Ancient World,” and the mysterious Sphinx.
Continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Explore the history of Egypt through its vast artifacts, including the famous collection of King Tutankhamun treasures.
After a long day of sightseeing, you will check into your Cairo hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 2: Citadel, Coptic Cairo, Khan el-Khalili & Return to Gouna
Check out after breakfast.
Start the day at the Citadel of Salah el-Din, one of the world’s greatest monuments to medieval warfare, situated on a spur of limestone. You will also visit the magnificent Alabaster Mosque within the Citadel.
Next, explore Coptic Cairo, the historical heart of Christianity in Egypt. Sites include:
The Hanging Church: Possibly the oldest Christian church in Egypt.
Church of St Sergius (Abu Serga): Built atop one of the sites where the Holy Family rested.
Ben Ezra Synagogue: Egypt’s oldest synagogue, dating to the 9th century.
Conclude the sightseeing at Khan el-Khalili Bazaars. This is Cairo’s most famous shopping area where you can grab a bargain when you barter with the locals for spices, leather goods, jewelry, and local crafts.
After concluding the tour, your private vehicle will commence the return drive back to your hotel in El Gouna.
