Eight days in Egypt over Easter week. Cairo for two days, then a four-night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, then back to Cairo for a free day before departure.
Honest framing: You’re not going to Egypt “for Easter.” Egypt is a majority-Muslim country. Coptic Easter (Orthodox) falls on May 2 in 2027, not March 28. What you get instead: the best weather of the year — 25°C in Cairo, 30°C in Luxor, no humidity, no rain — and slightly fewer crowds than Christmas. Easter week is a good window to visit Egypt because the climate is perfect, not because Egypt celebrates it.
The Nile cruise is on the Farah Nile Cruise, 5-star, full board. Four nights, Luxor to Aswan, with stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo.
What you actually see
Cairo — Days 1-2. Giza Plateau at 8 AM when gates open. Three pyramids, the Sphinx, the Valley Temple. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) with the Tutankhamun galleries. Day 2 covers the Citadel of Saladin, Coptic Cairo (Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue), and Khan el-Khalili bazaar.
Luxor & Nile Cruise — Days 3-7. Fly to Luxor on Easter Sunday. Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan. Optional Abu Simbel on Day 7 morning.
Cairo — Day 8. Fly back from Aswan. Free afternoon in Cairo. Late departure or add an extra night.
Why Easter week works
Weather. Late March in Egypt is close to perfect. Cairo: 22-25°C, sunny. Luxor and Aswan: 28-32°C. No rain. Not as hot as May, not as cool as January.
Crowds. Easter week is busy but not as bad as Christmas/New Year. Hotel and cruise prices are lower than December. Sites are less packed.
School breaks. European and American school spring breaks line up with Easter week. If you’re traveling with kids, the dates work without pulling them out of school.
Coptic Easter note. The Coptic Orthodox Easter is May 2, 2027 — five weeks after Western Easter. If you’re still in Egypt in early May, tell us and we can arrange a Coptic Easter service visit.
The hotels & ship
Steigenberger Pyramids (Cairo, 3 nights total — Days 1-2 and Day 8). 5-star, pyramid views from some rooms. 10 minutes from the Giza plateau. 45 minutes from downtown in normal traffic.
Farah Nile Cruise (Luxor → Aswan, 4 nights, Days 3-7). 5-star ship. Cabins with Nile views. Restaurant, bar, sundeck pool, spa. Full board (drinks excluded).
About the flights
Two economy flights included: Cairo → Luxor (Day 3) and Aswan → Cairo (Day 7). Both on EgyptAir. Luggage: 23 kg checked, 7 kg carry-on per person.

Honest notes
Easter is not a big holiday in Egypt. Egypt is a majority-Muslim country with a Coptic Christian minority. Western Easter on March 28 isn’t observed locally. Sites run normally. The reason to come is the weather and the fewer crowds, not the holiday itself.
The Nile cruise is busy but not full. Ships sell out faster for Christmas than Easter. Book by January for the best cabin selection.
Spring brings Khamsin winds. Khamsin is a hot, dusty wind that blows in Egypt in March and April. It usually lasts 2-3 days. If it hits during your trip, we adjust the schedule — indoor sites (GEM, Luxor Museum) instead of outdoor ones. It’s rare but possible.
Day 7 is a travel day. Abu Simbel in the early morning (optional), then disembark, then fly Aswan → Cairo, then check in at Steigenberger. You arrive in Cairo in the evening. Day 8 is the free day.
If you want an easier Easter without the cruise, book the 5-day Cairo Easter version. Cairo-only, slower pace.
Who this is for
- Travelers on spring break who want the full Egypt experience
- Families with kids 10+ (school break aligns with Easter)
- Couples and honeymooners who want warm weather without Christmas pricing
- Anyone who wants a fixed departure with no logistics to plan
Who this is not for
- Travelers who want to celebrate Easter in a Christian-majority country
- Anyone who wants to see Egypt’s Coptic Easter (that’s May 2, 2027)
- Families with kids under 6 (the cruise pace is slow for young kids)
- Budget travelers — Easter week is still peak season
