What are Egypt’s copyright laws regarding photography or videos?

Egypt’s copyright laws protect photographs and videos as intellectual property under Law No. 82 of 2002. If you create photos or videos in Egypt, you own the copyright and may not use or publish someone else’s media without permission. For personal use, you can freely photograph or film in public places (except at military or security sites) and at most monuments—no permit needed, as long as you’re not using heavy professional equipment or shooting for commercial purposes.
Commercial, journalistic, or professional projects do require permits. Media must not violate privacy, misrepresent Egypt, or include children without parental permission. When publishing, sharing, or using others’ images, always credit the owner and comply with Egypt’s copyright and content restrictions.
