West Bank Discovery Tour
Upon arrival in Luxor, you will cross the Nile River to the West Bank, the ancient necropolis of the great city of Thebes (ancient Luxor).
1. Valley of the Kings: You will arrive at the burial place of the kings of Thebes. You will have a brief stop at the visitors center. Guides are not permitted inside the tombs, but your guide will brief you on what to look for inside the elaborately decorated rooms. You will have time to explore the tombs currently open to the public. If you wish to visit the tomb of King Tutankhamun, an additional cost is payable direct.
2. Temple of Hatshepsut: Leaving the hot sands of the Valley of the Kings, you will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments in Egypt. Your guide will introduce you to the history of the temple and the story of Queen Hatshepsut, the famous female ruler who posed as a male to gain the throne. You will have free time to explore the large courtyards and admire the intricate hieroglyphic decorations at your leisure.
3. Colossi of Memnon: Returning to the East Bank of Luxor, there will be time for a brief photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon. These two giant statues, standing tall and proud, mark the site of the funerary temple of Amenhotep III and are all that remain of the ancient complex.
4. Alabaster Factory: In addition, you will have the chance to visit an alabaster factory and observe a demonstration of local crafts, with the option to purchase genuine items if you wish.
Finally, your private vehicle will commence the return drive back to your hotel in El Gouna.
