Itinerary:
My Egypt Travel arranges this classic road excursion to the south, taking you by private bus from Aswan to see the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel. With a qualified Egyptologist as your guide, you’ll enjoy a personalized visit to the site.
Early morning departure from your Aswan hotel or cruise ship via private, air-conditioned bus for the long but scenic drive south to Abu Simbel (note: travel time is approximately 3-4 hours each way, often involving a convoy).
Upon arrival, you will be accompanied by your Egyptologist guide to the famous temples of Ramesses II and his favorite wife Nefertari. With its four rock-hewn pharaohs, your guide will explain the history of the site, including how the temples were discovered by accident in 1813.
Due to the large number of visitors to Abu Simbel, guides are not permitted inside either the Great Temple of Ramses II or the smaller Temple of Hathor. However, your guide will provide a detailed explanation of the structures and their interior artworks before you enter.
After sufficient time to explore and appreciate the temples’ grandeur, you will begin the return journey to Aswan, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
