The tour begins at Memphis, the legendary city founded around 3100 BC by King Menes, who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Learn how Memphis served as a vital fortress and center of rule and culture for over 3,000 years.
Next, you will drive approximately 20-30 minutes to Saqqara, a key section of the great necropolis of Memphis. Saqqara is home to Egypt’s oldest pyramid, the famous Step Pyramid, built by Imhotep for Pharaoh Djoser in 2650 BC. Your guide will provide a brief history of the site before allowing you free time to walk around the perimeter of this impressive structure. Saqqara is also the burial site for the kings of the 1st and 2nd Dynasties, with several major recent archaeological discoveries made here.
This is a private tour allowing you to determine the amount of time spent at each site.
